I am going on a hunt for fashion quotes, here are some of my favorites
"Fashion fades, only style remains the same. "
Coco Chanel
"Fashion is made to become unfashionable. "
Coco Chanel
"I'm crazy, and I don't pretend to be anything else. "
Calvin Klein
"Dressing is a way of life. "
Yves Saint Laurent
"Fashions fade, style is eternal. "
Yves Saint Laurent
"It would be very easy for us to do a collection that everybody would like and not criticize. But criticism is a part of life. You have to take it. "
Donatella Versace
“Fashion is not something that exists in dresses only. Fashion is in the sky, in the street, fashion has to do with ideas, the way we live, what is happening.”
Coco Chanel
“It is the unseen, unforgettable, ultimate accessory of fashion that heralds your arrival and prolongs your departure.”
Coco Chanel
"A woman's dress should be like a barbedwire fence: serving its purpose without obstructing the view."Sophia Loren
"Chanel is composed of only a few elements, white camellias, quilted bags and Austrian doorman's jackets, pearls, chains, shoes with black toes. I use these elements like notes to play with."Karl Lagerfeld
And the last one, is something that I saw in a Lord and Taylor ad the other day:
"It's not the journey or the destination, It's what you wear along the way."
Simple. Minimal.
This fall, minimal is big. Black and white, no patterns or designs.
This Stella McCarteny jacket (image from style.com) is a perfect example.
Simple, yet fashionable. Few details, but just enough to make it interesting.
Simplicity.
White walls,
ordinary phone calls,
an empty glass,
a formal mass,
a wooden chair,
a teddy bear,
a stone,
a dog’s bone,
a white plate,
not one bit ornate.
These are the simple things,
the things we would go crazy if have, we did not,
and the things that would make us lazy, if all else we forgot.
Minimalist fashion is best if it is composed of only a few pieces. Maybe an oversized sweater and boots, or a button down, black slacks, and ankle boots.
Stella McCartney is one of my favorite designers. She has changed the way people look at fashion, she has added an environmental aspect to the fashion industry.

Of course, its hardly fall, but the fashion industry is preparing for spring. For coverage of New York Fashion Week events you can visit my favorite fashion sites nytimes.com, style.com, and net-a-porter.com.
As it gets closer to spring I will post about my favorite fall shows and more spring 2010 fashion. For now, I have some videos for you to watch and enjoy. These are fall fashion trend videos from Net-A-Porter's YouTube channel. My comments will be at the bottom of each video.
Enjoy!
The great thing about past deacdes returing to the fashion world, is that you can find peices at thrift stores, and other resale stores.
The camel coat is easy to wear, stylish, and a must have anytime, not just this fall.
There are many ways to wear aviator-inspired peices, just hints of it work great with the simplest outfits. Skinny jeans and a graphic tee with aviator sunglasses is a stylish, easy, casual, and chic outfit, great for the day, and for night, with a dressy button down or jacket.
There are so many options of fashionable cover-ups this fall. Some can go with the most complex outfits, and not distact, others can be the center of the outfit.
This season, there are a million ways to wear lace, find one, and style is easy.
This is a chic and easy way to be stylish this fall, it's a more elegant version of the boyfriend look.
Red is one of the hottest colors this fall. Brightly colored accents are a hit, and red is one of the best colors.
Matallics can be eye-stopping, if you find the right one. It's a great way to make a statement.
"French label Chloé was started in 1952 as an alternative to the norm's strict adherence to haute couture. Founder Gaby Aghion spotted a void in the market and the notion of Prêt-à-Porter was born. The list of past designers reads like a who's who of fashion's greatest, including Karl Lagerfeld (who took it to iconic status in the 1970s), Stella McCartney and Phoebe Philo. British designer Hannah MacGibbon is the new creative director, look out for her refined take on easy glamour. This season expect sleek '70s-inspired jumpsuits, oversized camel coats and classic denim shirts." -

So, if you are ever going to appear on any red carpet, follow these tips.
Make sure the dress fits
Ask someone else how a dress looks on you, someone who wont lie just to make you feel better
Ask yourself if your dress appropriate for the red carpet, not prom, not halloween, not the beach, not a fashion show, but the red carpet
Longer dresses are easier to pull off, don't stay away from short dresses, just be careful
Avoid really frilly dresses, you WILL look like you are being eaten by a big flower
Be careful if you wear a suit, you don't want to look too businesslike
Make sure you can walk in the shoes you wear, if you want to wear shoes that will be uncomfortable to wear for long periods of time, bring another pair to wear when you are not walking/hobbling down the red carpet
Make sure all of your accessories and makeup go with your dress
Decide what the focus of the outfit will be, the dress, the hair, the makeup, the bag, or the shoes. Chose one, and don't distract from it. If you are going to have a statement bag, have a simpler dress. If you are going to have a statement dress, wear simple shoes. And make sure the dress isn't too much of a statement. For example:
