Say Yes To The Swimsuit!

With spring and summer comes swimsuits, so many swimsuits. So, which one? Well, it depends. Here is the my guide to finding the right swimsuit.

  1. Think of your budget and shop accordingly. Don't go looking for swimsuits in stores you cant afford. Of course, you can always go in and wish and dream that you had a million dollars (this is a personal hobby of mine), but for most of us, a swimsuit under 50$ is good (less than that, preferably). Some stores I enjoy shopping for swimsuits at are Target, Old Navy, and Gap.
  2. Think of your body-type, do you want to look slimmer, taller, curvier? Pick a swimsuit that fits, suits, and compliments you. Vertical stripes can make you look taller and thinner and horizontal stripes make you look curvier. Detail compliments your best features, so choose wisely.
  3. Think of the look you want to have. Sophisticated? Original? Edgy? Classic? When making decisions consider these.
  4. Does it fit right? The last thing you want is a swimsuit that falls off when you get in the water, or doesn't allow you to breathe. Make sure the swimsuit fits you.
  5. The only thing you need now is confidence. If you believe it, no one else will doubt it.
  6. Now, lets find somewhere to wear this great swimsuit...

Gap StyleMixer iPhone App Review

Planning out what to wear? There's an app for that.
The Gap StyleMixer app allows you create outfits using products from gap.com and photos that you have taken. You can mix and match different pieces to create outfits that you can save and refer back to. These outfits can be shared with friends and the StyleMixer community.  If you connect with Facebook you can view events so you can figure out what to wear, when. You can also create wish lists and Lookbooks that you can share with friends and family through the app or through email. You can view offers and sales available in Gap stores and you can shop for Gap clothing and view collection videos. This app is easy to use and is very helpful, I would recommend it to anyone.

What to Wear

One can know all the trends, have plenty of clothes, have places to go, people to see, and still stand in front of their closet and ask themselves a very simple question that is hard to answer: What do I Wear?
Here is a ten step guide on what to wear:

  1. First, think about where you are going and what the most practical choices would be.
  2. Next, think about what look you are going for (ex: sophisticated, professional, confident)
  3. Pick out some statement pieces that reflect that look (ex: a floral scarf)
  4. Look at each of the pieces you have chosen and select the one that best reflects the look you want and you can see yourself wearing. This will be your inspiration piece
  5. Follow the 5 Steps to Make an Outfit

    1. Inspiration Piece (max. two inspirations)- This piece should be the theme, or focus of the outfit. Its should stand out when the outfit is finished. Ex: A black and white spotted dress.
    2. Following Piece - This piece should compliment the inspiration, but not distract from it. It especially important if the inspiration is really bright, or colorful, because the follower should tone the inspiration down. Ex: A black coat.
    3. Small Standout-This piece should bring out something in the inspiration. It needs to make a statement, but not distract from the inspiration too much. Ex: Black and white spotted earrings.
    4. Addition Pieces- These pieces are followers, they compliment, but do not distract. They must be small, and basic. Ex: Black boots, white purse.
    5. Final Touches- These pieces are followers, but can be large or small. They tie the outfit together. They are anything else needed with the outfit and they. Ex: White scarf (Note: You do not have to have final touches, if they are not needed.)
